Netherwood Ski Tour 2018 – Prato Nevoso – Italy
Sunday 25th March 2018 – Sunday 1st April 2018 (8 days with 5 nights in hotel & 5 days skiing)
Should your son/daughter express an interest in attending the school’s 2018 ski trip, please pass on the message to collect a letter from student services within the first days back at school in September. Initial interest can be noted via email to firstname.lastname@example.org during the summer holidays.
We will be travelling to Italy with IBT Travel, a well-established ABTA and ATOL bonded travel company, who specialize in catering for school groups. IBT Travel are an excellent company with a proven track record in school trips abroad, particularly with Barnsley schools.
This activity is not a compulsory part of the curriculum, but provides a unique opportunity to experience an exciting outdoor activity in beautiful surroundings. We will be travelling to Italy and the package will include:
- 5 nights full board with a hot lunch in the hotel (Hotel Galassia, Prato Nevoso)
- Evening meal before departure on last day
- 5 day ski pass including key card deposit
- 5 days hire of ski equipment including ski helmet
- 5 days (5 hours minimum each day) of ski instruction (4 Ski instructors for group)
- Ski test with certificate and presentation ceremony
- Evening entertainment (Snowtubing, Disco, Games Night)
- Ski Hoodie
- Collective passport
- Return Dover / Calais ferry crossing
We will be staying and skiing in Prato Nevoso. The contribution towards this very comprehensive package is £755.00 approx, but you will also have to think about providing appropriate mountain clothing and a small amount of pocket money.
If you wish your son/daughter to participate in this activity, after your child has picked up a copy of the letter please complete and sign the attached reply slip, returning this slip to Student Services, during opening hours, marked ski trip no later than Monday the 18th September 2017. If your son/daughter is allocated a place on the trip, a Parentpay payment plan can be set up where payments can be made online or by using a Paypoint store. The first payment due is a non-refundable deposit of £150 to be paid during the week ending Friday 29th September 2017. There will be an opportunity to ask questions and discuss any issues at a Parents’ Information Evening for participating students, date to be confirmed.
The subsequent payments will be as follows;
Payment 2 – £200 by Friday 24th November
Further payments are flexible but the final balance must be paid in full by Friday 26th January 2018.
It should be noted that skiing is a very physically demanding sport; we will be skiing for at least five hours every day with only a short break for lunch. Students also have to carry all their own equipment. Please only apply for the trip if you are confident that your son/daughter will enjoy this kind of physical challenge.
All current Netherwood Academy students in Years 8, 9, 10 and 11 are invited to apply for this trip. In the event of the trip being oversubscribed a ballot will be held after the closing date. Students that are not successful will be placed on a waiting list and given higher priority in future years.
Any slips returned after the closing date will not be considered.
Staff must be confident that student behaviour will meet the high standards expected; ensuring that instructions will be followed and conduct will be safe, polite and respectful. Any behaviour that results in school sanctions being implemented up to the time of the visit puts student participation at risk. If student behaviour and the resulting sanctions indicate removal from the trip is possible, parents will be fully informed. If a student is removed from the visit due to the above, refunds of payments may not be possible unless a replacement student can be found following the procedures below.
Withdrawal for any reason, except medical, from the trip will only be possible if:
- a student is available to take the place of your son/daughter on the visit
If you require any further clarification please do not hesitate to contact either of us at school on 01226 272000 or by email on email@example.com and firstname.lastname@example.org
